Cerdeira Arts and Crafts School's is a space for learning techniques that result from timeless lines and, at the same time, a place
for creativity and art with a contemporary twist. We offer:
1 and 3 days workshops for beginners, and longer courses, 5-8 days, that allow greater technical advance and immerse yourself in creative work.
If you are a professional artist, our classes offer a rich environment dedicated to real skills, rooted in tradition, and a space for your creativity to grow.
Our teachers are Portuguese and foreign professional artists , specialists in their field who are happy to share their knowledge with those who are looking for our courses.
Ceramics
Cerdeira is specially dedicated to ceramics with a fully equipped workshop and one of the few smokeless wood-fired kilns in Europe.
Professional ceramicists visit Cerdeira throughout the year for workshops, events, and exhibitions.
Wood
Wood has been at the very heart of the life of Cerdeira from its beginning.
Our space lends itself to the teaching and practicing of traditional and contemporary woodworking.
Visual Arts
The visual arts thrive in the play between the studio and the surrounding nature.
Our immersive courses will refine your perception and transform your skills.
Other techniques
From writing to textiles, there are many ways of thinking creatively.

A week of immersion in nature, creativity and silence characterize this course. Observing and tracking one’s own attraction impulse towards details in nature opens up our creative center. If we allow it to inspire us and connect us with our natural sense of harmony, free from prejudice and expectations, we create through our individual sensibilities. We are part of nature.

MASAKAZU KUSAKABE
Beside his deep knowledge of ceramics and wood firing, Japanese ceramist Masakazu Kusakabe is a true master in every sense. His workshops are not limited to pottery, but also include other elements of Japanese culture, including tea ceremonies, sushi making, the “Wabi Sabi” philosophy, and music.

In these 3 days, we will build small kiln that fire with gas or wood and where we can fire our pieces carefully. On the first day, we will make small objects using different kinds of clay to adapt the best way to each way of firing. We will learn how kilns work and then safely fire.
